Homemade Steamed Rice Noodle Rolls, Small Bites & Shaved Ice
1400 Park St, Unit 22, Hartford, CT 06106

Taiwan is home to many of the world’s most famous open street food markets. Some housing over 500 stalls, they draw in thousands of guests and push the growth and innovation of food. At Taiwan Night Market (TNM) we explore the late night treats and sweets that Taiwan has to offer! Located in the Parkville Market, Hartford’s own food Hall, TWN specializes in house-made steamed rice rolls and shaved snow ice.

Tsua-Bing, or Shaved Ice is pillowy and fluffy layers of flavored snow, with assortments of drizzles and toppings all melting over your tastebuds on contact. The base flavors, which come from frozen blocks of a flavorful cream, are milk, mango, honeydew and banana. Each block gets expertly shaven into fine layers and ribbons onto the base of your dessert. Then, that base is carefully topped off with a collection of syrups and toppings, that range from traditional notes—like red bean, mochi and brown sugar boba—to more familiar flavors, like mochi, crushed peanuts and a nutella drizzle.

Next, is the carefully steamed sheets of Cheong Fun, or rice noodle rolls. These chewy pillows sitting on a sea of soy glaze, are made from milled down rice & water. Then steamed and stuffed with all sorts of fillings—beef, shrimp, scallion, carrots and nibbles of spam. Finally, topped off with fried shallots, a wave of sweet rice noodle sauce and maybe a dab of spicy chili crisp, these noodles are sure to please. The stall will also offer a range of shareable small bite options from homestyle pork dumplings, crispy chicken poppers and crunchy filled rangoons.
